The concepts of reliability and validity are the two ideas that are applied to assess the quality and rigor of research. Reliability is the constancy and the permanence of a measurement device; that is, the results can be obtained the same way, provided the study is repeated. Validity, on the other hand, is the truthfulness of a tool in relation to its intended measure. Research can be solid without being valid, yet the two are inseparable in carrying meaningful research findings. Validity reduces the chances of random error, which is minimized by reliability, and validity consequently requires that the findings should be representative of the true phenomenon under study.

Furthermore, the high number of 438 nurses in the study gives the study added reliability due to the decrease in variability. Nevertheless, the absence of a test-retest reliability test indicates that the consistency across time was not investigated in detail.

The findings illustrated that the tool was able to capture the desired concept. Nevertheless, it was suggested to carry out additional studies on different populations to enhance the external validity and generalization by the authors.
Connection between Reliability and Validity and Translational Research.
In translational research, reliability and validity are critically important since the results are implemented in clinical practice. Valid instruments are used to ensure that the right clinical issues are addressed, whereas reliable instruments ensure uniform results. In pressure injury prevention, a valid and reliable tool helps in evidence-based interventions and enhances patient outcomes. In the absence of these elements, translational research would not work well to bridge the gap between research and practice.
