(2023 aims to explore the connection between transformational leadership within the nursing workplace and the outcomes of the patients that are treated within those wards and hospitals. Within the article, the authors discuss some of the various ways that transformational leadership within the nursing field can have a positive impact on the nursing practice and the patients that are cared for. Overall, the researchers performed reviews of previous research studies to determine if there was a connection between the implementation of transformational leadership practices within the nursing field and the health care outcomes, performance, and other results of the nurses and the patients within that nursing facility. The results indicated that transformational leadership was related to higher levels of nurse satisfaction, lower levels of burnout, higher levels of cooperation among nurses, and higher levels of patient safety. Comprehension
Gebrehet et al. (2023) conducted an integrative literature review to investigate the correlation between transformational leadership and nurses’ job satisfaction. This article investigates the relationship between the characteristics of transformational leadership, specifically in relation to providing emotional support to nurses, motivating nurses, and the communication between nurses and those nurses themselves, with their attitudes towards their work. The results of this article demonstrate that there is a positive relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction, commitment to the organization, and retention of nurses within those facilities. Nurses who were working under nurses who exhibited the characteristics of transformational leadership experienced the following: their needs were to be valued by the other nurses within the facility, they felt motivated to perform their jobs effectively, and they felt that they were being supported in the performance of their jobs. The researchers found that transformational leadership facilitates the positive aspects of a healthier work environment and better nursing performance.
Application
The information from this article is directly applicable to concepts related to nursing leadership, specifically concepts related to employee motivation, employee morale, and employee retention. Job satisfaction is essential for nurses, as nurses who are not satisfied with their jobs will eventually burn out and leave the nursing profession. However, because transformational leaders tend to focus on the growth and care of the individuals in the organization, nurses will have more of a reason to remain committed to their organization and the patients within it. The information from the article is applicable to future nurse leaders as well.
Analysis
Strategically, the article is well structured with information from several academic studies and is credible as an academic source. The integrative review approach enabled the authors to explore several points of view on transformational leadership and job satisfaction. The emotional and professional value of supportive leadership in nursing is highlighted subjectively in the article. A limitation is that the article is mainly concerned with the positive aspects, and minimal discussion is done about challenges in implementing transformational leadership. The article does provide good evidence that transformational leadership has a positive impact on the experience of nurses within healthcare organizations, even with this limitation.
Evaluation
